The Front Windshield Replacement Process

Assessment of Damage
Before replacement, the technician will assess the extent of the damage. If the damage is repairable, they may recommend a repair instead of a full replacement.

Inspection of the New Windshield Glass
The technician will review the vehicle details and inspect the glass for your vehicle to insure it is the correct windshield replacement glass. They also will perform a final pre-installation inspection of the glass for any scratches or damage and address any of these prior to removing the old windshield. They then clean the glass and decontaminate the bonding area of the glass to insure proper adherence of the primer, urethane or both.

Vehicle and Safety Preparation
The technician will take safety precautions, such as wearing protective gear and preparing the vehicle for replacement. This also includes performing a pre-inspection and noting any damage or issues before beginning work. Preparation of the vehicle may include covering the interior to prevent damage and removing any wipers and panels or any other items that might interfere with the removal process and also allow for a proper set of the new windshield.

Removal of the Old Windshield
The old windshield glass is carefully removed using specialized tools. The technician will cut through the adhesive or remove bolts that are holding the in place and gradually lift it away from the frame and clean up any excess broken glass.

Surface Preparation
The surface where the windshield sits is thoroughly cleaned and prepared for the new windshield to be installed. This includes trimming away old urethane removing any old adhesive, rust, and/or debris must be removed to ensure a proper seal and priming any scratches and damage.

Adhesive Application
A high-quality automotive adhesive is applied to the frame in preparation for attaching the new windshield. The type of adhesive used is critical for the structural integrity of the vehicle and the effectiveness of the replacement.

Installation of the New Glass
The new glass is carefully placed onto the frame and decked into the adhesive or bolted into the frame. Precision is crucial to ensure a proper fit and seal for your new windshield. The windshield glass is then adjusted as needed to align with the surrounding frame and the vehicle's specifications.

Re-assembly
Anything that was removed to allow the proper and safe removal and installation of the windshield glass is re-assembled and tested for proper fitment.

Quality Check
After reassembly, the technician performs a quality check to make sure that everything is securely in place, properly aligned and free of any defects. This may involve inspecting the seals, testing the wipers, rain sensor, door latch mechanisms, and window operation.

Post-Installation Recommendations
Upon wrapping up your job, collecting payment, and signatures, your technician will review the warranty with you as well as post installation care and things to avoid over the next 24-48 hours to prevent any issues with the installation.

Windshield Wipers
After a windshield replacement, we do recommend new wipers to avoid scratching the windshield unless you have recently replaced them. We offer wipers for purchase or you are more than welcome to bring your own wipers blades and we can install them during the windshield installation.

It's important to note that the windshield replacement and bonded glass installation should be only be carried out by trained and certified technicians using high-quality materials. Additionally, following the manufacturer's guidelines for adhesive curing and any specific recommendations for your vehicle is crucial for the long-term safety and performance of the replacement.
